SELF-GUIDED QR TOUR: HOTEL DESIGN

Hotel Lobby

Juxtaposing Seattle’s high-tech mentality with the elegance and sophistication of the city’s future, the designs by Philippe Starck is meant to elevate and push the boundaries of what people may expect to experience in the city, challenging guests with design and sparking conversation, imagination, and inspiration. Abstract symbols and playful design are found throughout the property and symbolic Northwest design elements appear within the materials like rustic and timber motifs which speak to the origin of Seattle as a logging town and the iconic nature surrounding the city. Among the must-sees: the front desk, crafted from a 3,000-year-old Sequoia tree log.

Examples include:

  • Use of abstract raw and elemental pieces i.e., metal tables and metal disposal bins in the shape of logs, guestroom accents of chrome evident on wooden cabinets and bathrooms
  • The Front Desk, crafted out of a 3,000-year-old Sequoia tree log
  • The hallway carpets and meeting room light fixtures which feature timber patterns
